Chrissy Teigen Explains How To DIY The ‘Menu’ That Solved Luna’s Picky Eating Habits

Chrissy Teigen shows fans the “menu” she made for Luna that encourages her to try more foods

If you’ve ever had a picky eater on your hands, you know the lengths you’ll go through to get them to eat something — anything — the resembles a semi-healthy meal. Chrissy Teigen took things to the next level when she shared that she’d created a (laminated) menu for daughter Luna to choose from, including faux money and all. Now, the mom-of-two is explaining why she went to those lengths in an adorable new video that’s part-explanation and part-cooking show.

“I wanted Luna to get excited to eat,” Teigen says in the video, starring the picky eater herself and husband, John Legend. She explained Luna used to be a pretty adventurous eater until “one Friday,” (which has most parents nodding their heads in agreement) when everything changed.

She joked that she’d always thought she’d be a parent who would present their kids with a meal and if they didn’t eat it, well, they didn’t eat. But any parent of a picky eater knows that game usually ends when we concede. Teigen said her menu is one fans ask about a lot so she figured she’d show the world exactly why she created it.

“Trust me, I know this is ridiculous,” Teigen admitted in the video, showing viewers all the pictures in the “menu” and then letting Luna decide what she wants for dinner. She quickly lands on fish sticks and broccoli (good choice) and hands over money to pay for her food (real dollars — also laminated).

The second half of the video shows viewers how she makes her fish sticks and let me tell you, this will now be in the rotation at our house. Her recipe is easy to follow, simple to make, and is a meal fit for big and little humans alike. Watch the video for a how-to and a peek at her menu — “unfortunately we’re not Michelin rated…yet,” the cookbook author joked.

Teigen reached out to her fans in 2018 struggling as a first-time mom. “I always came from the mindset of ‘eat what we serve or go to bed hungry’ but I’m officially owned by my toddler, struggling to make a *dinner* luna likes aside from spaghetti and fish sticks,” she lamented. “Any ideas welcome!”

Not long after, the menu was born.

Teigen admits the idea is extra AF but at the end of the day, it worked and Luna eats things she likes that are nutritious and feels like she has a say in the matter. Plus, it (mostly) ends the battle that always ensues when your kids don’t like what you’ve made. Sounds like a win-win to me.
