Getting ready for the Virgin Strive Challenge 2018

We’re about to start the Virgin Strive Challenge and I’ve been training hard over the past few months to get in shape.

The challenge is the most adventurous yet, with a route that will see us cycling and sea kayaking across Sardinia, hiking across Corsica, cycling and hiking across France and finishing by climbing up Europe’s tallest mountain, Mont Blanc.

One of my favourite things about the Virgin Strive Challenge is meeting lots of different people from all walks of life who all want to create positive change – it makes it easier to keep trekking up that mountain when the conversation is inspiring.

We’ve all come together to strive for Big Change, the social impact accelerator co-founded by my children, which helps young people thrive in life and not just exams. The challenge helps get us out of our comfort zones, raise money and come together to work together to support young people.

It’s also wonderful to strive with Sam and Holly by my side and the challenge really has become one of the highlights of the year for me. It pushes us to our limits and we support each other to reach the finish line, which always brings us closer and reminds us of what really matters.

We’ve all been training really hard to get ready for this year’s challenge. I’ve been on the tennis court whenever I’ve had the chance and Sam’s been recording his cycling around the BVI. We’ve been winding down over the weekend to get in the right frame of mind and relax before we set out, and now we’re ready to go.

All the money raised from the Virgin Strive Challenge goes to Big Change to support their work helping young people fulfil their potential. Wish us luck!
