14 Things Our Community Couldn’t Stop Buying in May

We’ve made it to the first few days of June, meaning it’s time to look back at what our community loved from last month. May was filled with new arrivals, sales, and gearing up for the summer hosting, cooking, and cocktail-making season, and many of the month’s favorites reflect that.

To recap this year’s monthly best-seller lists so far: In January, it was all about soup. In February, dinner party and storage accessories took the spotlight. March was a big month for table settings and dinnerware, and April turned towards home improvement and outdoor dining. Now it’s time to see which summer essentials everyone stocked up on in May.

While some of our Shop best-sellers have maintained their spots throughout the year (the Casafina dinnerware, our Five Two dish rack, and the Emile Henry fruit bowl are recurring champs), some of our newest arrivals squeezed their way into the lineup this month, too. Curious to see what else made the cut? Here are the 14 Shop items you couldn’t get enough of in May.

Dansk cookware pieces are the kinds of wares that home cooks and design lovers are keen to collect. With its assortment of colors, distinct design, and long lifespan, this saucepan is an ideal piece for any kitchen collection.

2. Five Two Over-the-Sink Dish Drying Rack, $45 $39+

We’re always raving about this versatile drying rack—and for good reason: Not only is it compact enough to comfortably fit over the sink in even the smallest of kitchens, it also can be used to wash produce or as a trivet under hot dishes.

3. Casafina Modern Classic Ceramic Dinnerware, $74+

Mixing and matching the design of your dinner table is exceptionally easy with this dinnerware set. You can buy it as a single-color set or in a pre-curated, mixed-color assortment. 4. Food52 Waffle Dish Towels, $28+ $11

If your kitchen towel supply is running low, stock up on these waffle-textured dish towels while they’re on sale. They’re made from 100 percent Turkish cotton, come in six vibrant colors, and are machine washable.

5. Food52 x Dansk Købenstyle Casserole, $95+ $60+

Whether you’re steaming mussels, making a casserole, or whipping up a big batch of pasta, this Købenstyle casserole dish has got you covered. And like many of our Dansk favorites, it’s available in several fun colors, too.

6. Mesa Acrylic Outdoor Drinkware, $39+

Don’t worry about accidentally breaking a glass or two during a backyard happy hour or dinner party—these acrylic glasses are resilient enough to withstand even your clumsiest guest.

7. Emile Henry French Ceramic Fruit Storage Bowl, $130+

If you haven’t been introduced to this impressive fruit bowl yet, let’s get you up to speed. It comes in a shallow or deep size, seven different colors, and is loved for its layered design. Produce in the bottom bowl is kept in the dark—perfect for those goods that need a dark, temperature-stable space, like onions, potatoes, or not-yet-ripe fruits—and the shallow top is ideal for the more fickle fruits like bananas and avocados. Plus, the clever cork rim absorbs extra moisture to keep fruit flies away.

8. The Rope Co. Braided Nautical Lobster Rope Doormat, $105+ $50+

Brush the dirt off of your shoes after a trip to the beach, park, or working in the garden, with this braided doormat. It’s available in nine colors and four different sizes, so there are plenty of options for every space.

If you’re needing to replace your favorite knife or looking for a new one to add to your collection, many community members flocked to these essential kitchen knives from our Five Two line. 10. Food52 x Dansk Købenstyle Butter Warmer, $48 $30+

Melting butter to pour over lobster rolls is a breeze with this colorful butter warmer from Dansk. It’s small enough to fit on the table, has a wooden handle to help with easy pouring, and comes in eight cheerful colors.
